Hi everyone! I'm new to all of this and don't have anything to share yet. I just wanted to introduce myself. I had worked with polymer clay several years ago and really enjoyed it,but gave it up for my first love of cake designing and being a chocolatier. I used a lot of the molds for these and thought that it would be fun to do some clay working again. Recently, I went to a meeting at the cake club I belong to and one of the ladies showed some things she does with polymer and I was hooked all over again. This past weekend I went out and bought a bunch of stuff to work with and thought that on nights when I wasn't working on a cake or some type of candy that I would sit and enjoy working with the clay. I really got inspired when I saw this board and a lot of the things all of you do with it. I am so excited to be here and to get to making some things.

Hi Peg and welcome!
You will find lots of great info here and in the tutorial section on things people are making with polymer clay. Do you make cakes for a living? Sounds like an interesting job!
As soon as you make something with the clay you should take a picture of it and post it here, this is a good group to get positive feedback from. We're all learning together!

I earn just enough on cakes to buy myself some things once in a while like sculpey stuff. I don't make enough to call it a living. My husband and I decided for me to be a stay home mom and cakes give me something to do for myself to enjoy and now I can add clay to that list, too. We have been working on me selling more in the next few years and trying to see what comes about. I'm hoping to be able to make something this weekend and share a picture of it. I should have some time that I can enjoy doing something and I can't wait to learn right along with all of you. I've got so many ideas of things to do,but I'm not even sure where to start.

I am also new to the board and love it already. I started claying about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I am also a stay at home mom and after awhile started my website www.codyskeepsakes.com and have made some money. Have been out of the loop for a few months though with moving and then breaking my ankle. Just now starting to get back in the studio. I am doing some research on sculpting dolls and figures right now. They seem to be the main selling point. I love seeing everyones work. I see its been since august that you replyed. would love to see your work. |
