Only water-based finishes should be used on polymer clay because oil-based finishes have components in them that react poorly with polymer clay over time. I've always gone by this rule of thumb: oil-based finishes are more long lasting when it comes to weathering the outdoors than water-based finishes. I am just not familiar enough with finishes to know if there are water-based finishes that are durable enough for the outdoors.
Polymer clay, sealed or unsealed, is not recommended for anything that comes into contact with food, drinks, or one's mouth. |

Thanks so much...I really like this little piece I have done and decided to keep it indoors I wouldd hate to oil glaze it and then have it ruined in time  |

| It also would have been a shame if you did use it and it poisoned the birdies that were eating from it. |
