I am glad to have found this forum. I have been interested in polymer clay for some time, but have been unsure if it was for me. I finally made the decision to try it and now I have a whole box of clay and clay supplies and I am too scared to try anything extensive. I am really interested in making some canes, but they seem so detailed and hard to make. I have everything from the pasta machine to push molds and can't decide where to go from here!! So any pointers will be greatly appreciated to the clay illiterate like me! Confused
Thanks!!

I would think the best thing is to start with something simple. Since you're interested in canes, why not try an easy one and see how you do. Above all, don't be scared!! You are the artist! You've got everything you need to get started, so just go for it. Take a look at the link below and try it out. If it doesn't work, don't worry, look around on the internet or in books and try another one. You can't make a mistake with polymer clay, that's the beauty of it!

I agree with JennRuth, you CAN'T make a mistake with polymer clay! You might make something totally different than what you intended, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. I went hunting for a cane tutorial for you, I've attached the link. I'm going to try this one myself, maybe I'll post my results. You try it too, and let us know how it turns out!
