I've noticed when working with the Fimo Transparent that I get what looks like bubbles after it is baked. Has anyone else experienced this? What causes it?
I just got the transparent clay with bleach in it, from TCS and I'm hoping I'll have better luck with it. |

I've noticed the same thing. I really haven't had much luck with any of the transparents unless I mix them with other clays. They also seem to yellow (or maybe it's scorching?) when I bake them. Let me know how the transparent with bleach works, I've never used it.
Thanks!

From what experience I have had with transparent clay, if you over condition it, or condition moisture into it, you will get bubbles. You also have to take care if you are conditioning with a pasta machine. Make sure that you are putting the clay fold side down!. If you don't, you may trap extra bubbles in that may be hard to get out. Also, take care when folding the clay to put into the machine. Try to get all of the air out before you put it in.
When you take your clay piece out of the oven and notice bubbles, you may be able to quickly flatten it using a smooth heat resistant surface on your piece with a little bit of pressure before it cools down.
If you are experiencing yellowing. You may very well be slightly scorching your clay. Try an oven thermometer. I was surprised how off my oven temp was. You may also want to try "tenting" with aluminum foil. This may help.
Good luck and I hope this post isn't too late to help you.

Great advice Mousefingers! I found the same thing with my oven, the temperature was way off.
Just wondering, has anyone used the Translucent with Bleach?
Is is better, about the same as regular translucent?
Thanks!
