Hi. I'm new to pc. I want to use pearl ex, but I wonder if it has to be sealed or finished if it's applied prior to baking. And does the unbaked clay have to be treated before using the pearl ex?

Thanks!

Hi,

Prior to baking it doesn't need any sealer...it adheres to the clay nicely. After baking I sometimes finish with a sealer to insure the powder doesn't flake off.

Thanks. What kind of sealer do you use? I tried a sealer for foil and it was too glossy. The piece lost the original texture.

I've used several different kinds... Future floor wax one coat will give a smooth, satiny finish, use more coats to make it glossy. Or, Sculpey Glaze Gloss can be used for a shiny finish, Sculpey Satin Finish can be used for a less shiny finish.
