Hi there, from sometimes Sunny South Florida. I am new to this forum, and not quite a poly newbie. What I would like to know is how can you add a color or a dye to your clay without adding another color of clay?
Say you have a piece of white and want to add a tint..what product do you use? I make soap and coloring is VERY easy. Just add food color.
Well that method sure doenst work with polymer clay
What a nice mess.
Thanks |

Hi there,
I really don't know of a way to tint clay without using another clay color. You can make a tint of any color just by using white clay and a very small qty of the color you want. For example, white clay plus a tiny amount of green clay would give you a green tint, etc. I'll be interested to know if anyone has any other ideas on tinting clay.

Hi,
hope I understand the question right.
To tint white clay without another clay you can use for an example inks for airbrush. Here in Germany we have only these colors which are compartible with clay. Think there for you you can use Pinhata Inks.
Roll a sheet of white clay and give a little ink on the clay sheet. Let it dry and then running through a pasta machine.
On this way you can colored your translucent clay in amazing colors and translucent will stay.
Hope this helps you a little.
